Non-binary

Traditionally, the gender concept is seen as being either Male or Female. This is an umbrella term inclusive of any identify which is not one of those two.

Best Practices suggests to use the gender neutral pronouns for these people by default (they/them/their) if unsure, but to ask their preferences and respect their wishes if they tell you otherwise.
