A discipline is a branch of skill, learning or an art form that is studied with drills, education and precision techniques.

Disciplines are often activities that are used within the context of a scene and are sometimes referred to as play, dance, work, or some other concept that frames the situation of how the scene is to be carried out.

Alternately, discipline may also refer to a form of consequence as part of a punishment dynamic that may be part of a negotiated power exchange dynamic, or in the case of funishment, may be part of a scene.
